Age Restrictions
Most international airlines will not allow the shipment of cats or dogs under 3 months old. In addition, certain breeds are banned, particularly snub nose dogs.
Can I track my pet’s flight?
Yes. We use only reputable scheduled air carriers that have their own tracking system. We will provide you with an Airwaybill number for this purpose once we receive the pet.
Weather restrictions.
There may be occasions when an airline will restrict uplift of pets due to extreme heat or cold. This restriction is to prevent harm coming to pets that are exposed to the elements during extreme conditions and while on the ground. Please make sure that you consider this possibility during seasonal changes.
What can you do for me?
We know that moving a pet is like moving one of the family – we can make the whole process easier by providing you with the best advice and service. Some airlines will not accept any bookings from the general public and require that you use a pet agent. – This is to ensure that only staff with a specialized knowledge guides you through the process and to minimize last minute problems. With Global Baggage Services you can select the kind of service you want – this may be a simple matter of walking you through the process and making the booking arrangements or arranging pickup and delivery to the carrier. Pay for what you need – we know this is an expensive time for you.
How much will it cost?
To secure the best estimate we will need specific information including destination and what sort of service you want - please take care with all of the information as this will affect the final shipping price when it is checked by the airline. Airline pricing is generally based on the volume weight of the pet and container – it also includes airlines surcharges, documentation fees and handling. If shipping to the UK then Customs fees will be included where applicable. An actual price cannot be finalized until we see, weigh and measure at the airport of departure, this is because of potential variations to container construction, weight and dimensions. How will my pet fly?
Most airlines require that Pets travel in the aircraft cargo compartment. These areas are well heated and ventilated. Airline handling staff are trained to treat the animals and their containers safely and with care. The Captain is generally made aware of any animals travelling in the hold of his aircraft.
